| 解説 | Commissioned by the Twin Ports Wind Orchestra of Duluth， Minnesota， this work honors the life and legacy of one if its own members， James Stellmaker， who enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a public school music educator in Duluth. In contrast to a typical elegy， Twin Ports Overture has a celebratory feel， sparkling and colorful. Brass is prominent in many parts of the work， especially featuring Mr. Stellmaker’s instrument， the trombone. The well-known hymn “Praise Ye the Lord， The Almighty，” which was played at his memorial service， is featured prominently throughout the work. |
